Loved gaining hands-on experience in science and also was able to mentor a high school student

Advice

Start research early if you're considering it as a career option/want to do it for fun during undergrad. The earlier you start the more time you have to work on your project and the more autonomy you will have in the lab later on.

I loved being able to work in the lab for long hours without any distractions from homework.

What I wish was different

My lab is in a basement, so seeing the sun more often would have been nice! Overall it was a great experience.

Advice

Get on trying to find research as soon as you can, if you want to do research. Talk to professors, make friends with classmates, and be involved in class.

BME virtual summer internship

It was a great opportunity for a weird summer- I was able to participate in an engineering project while still being remote.

I like how I have spent time with working adults as an exposure to real world work environments.

What I wish was different

Less time on the computer, but I knew it was going to be computer heavy when I started.

It is good to be close to your work instead of a long distance away since the travel can get tiresome.

The support from the supervising RCD and ARCD was immensely helpful, and my residents were a great group of people.

What I wish was different

The location in which I was placed did not have air conditioning, which caused a lot of special considerations when programming for residents in the summer.

This job is no different from library assistant or customer service job. Even though it sounds like a tech job, it’s more like customer service or IT consultant.
