Intern - Synthesis Chemist
The Summer Intern will participate in the development of a new polymerization process. This internship will focus on polymer synthesis but will include polymer characterization using various analytical and rheological techniques. There will also be some effort to assess the performance of the polymers in waterborne coatings.
Job Description:
1. Reduce coagulum formation in Rheolate RX 430 and RX04 by assessing the impact of alternate surfactants and reaction conditions.
2. The project will expose the summer intern to Rheology Modifiers, emulsion polymerization technology and a variety of analytical techniques used to characterize emulsions and assess their stability.
3. The project will also allow the student to gain experience working in a research laboratory focused on the
synthesis of acrylic polymers including safe practices and procedures.

Job Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with at least one year of chemistry laboratory courses.
