American Colors is a manufacturer of high-quality liquid colorants and other intermediates serving industrial and architectural coatings, cast and molded thermoset plastics, agricultural products and vinyl films. In addition to intermediates, we toll manufacture finished goods for various coatings applications. We are an employee-owned company in business since 1975, manufacturing from four US-based locations: Sandusky, OH, Gallatin, TN, Lebanon, TN and Seguin, TX.
Colorants for the cosmetics and personal care market has been a significant research project at American Colors over the last two years. As we launch into the cosmetics market in 2022, we are working on all facets of a business development strategy: research and development, regulatory, applications testing, sales and marketing strategy, and operations.

Logistics:
• Work from the headquarters lab location in Sandusky, OH

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceuticals or other applicable
• Experience in Cosmetics, Personal Care, Pharmaceuticals, Marketing, Operations, Sales, Quality, or Regulatory considered
• Exhibits professionalism, ability to collaborate, adherence to safety protocols, proper attendance and timeliness, and basic use of Microsoft Suite 

Expectations:
American Colors is in search of a Chemist to fulfill the following tasks with guidance from Business Development Director, Technical Director, and Lab Supervisor:
• Learn how to make pigment dispersions as defined by American Colors process and technology
• Assist in the development and scale-up of water-, oil-, or polymer-based pigment dispersions for use in color cosmetics
• Focus on natural or naturally-derived content
• Perform efficacy screening studies on preservatives for use in dispersions
• Formulate or scale-up prototype finished goods using pigment dispersions for application testing • Advise on FDA, ISO, or other regulatory needs and calculations
• Advise, design, or write technical literature on products to be launched
• Aid in design of FDA GMP facility for scale-up and manufacture of cosmetic colorants
• Become a resource for Sales, Marketing, and Operations efforts for cosmetics colorants
