About the Opportunity:  We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Field Process Engineer to join a team of innovative and dedicated professionals.   The FPE will ensure that Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology equipment is fully functional and available for customer use, involving regular extensive travel on a worldwide basis. We are looking for a candidate that will respond quickly to process issues in the field during emergency breakdowns, warranty service and service contract work and will provide technical process troubleshooting and liaison with customers. The FPE should have good awareness of the demands associated with handling hazardous materials and manage the risks appropriately.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that effective and accurate communication is maintained between all relevant parties and ensure that information is fed back to Service Management, Process Management, and Sales Team so that all files may be up-dated effectively.
  • Demonstrate process performance of tools installed at customer’s sites to pass customer acceptance tests and achieve system acceptance. This will involve foreign travel.
  • Develop an excellent working knowledge of the technology to facilitate fault finding and root cause analysis on processing results or equipment performance to deliver optimized process and hardware performance.
  • Carry out customer training both at OIPT and at customer sites.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the Company’s Health and Safety and ISO9001 Quality procedures.
  • Liaise with Sales Team to ensure complete alignment with customer expectations and all relevant background information
  • Help to maintain an accurate record of the status of the system, timing of warranty, parts supplied, service contracts and failures so that trends can be analyzed.
  • Keep up-to-date all relevant enquiry and project files on any significant information.
  • Provide detailed and accurate record of expense incurred on behalf of the Company.
  • Individuals with specific knowledge of the technology and associated hazards will apply their knowledge and skills to support the implementation of appropriate systems.
 
The Right Candidate will be a self-starting, diligent and enthusiastic team player, who is able to work independently and manage their own time. The FPE should be highly innovative and have good lateral thinking skills for identifying opportunities for technology development applications and is focused on excellent customer service. A relevant science or engineering degree, Chemistry or Chemical engineering and significant experience with the semiconductor industry or relevant experience in an academic institution will be important to be successful in this position, as well as experience with Thin film measuring (e.g SEM, AFM, etc.), experience with Ion Beam (Deposition and / or Etch) and/or General deposition or etch experience is preferred. Willingness and desire to travel frequently is a must.
