R&D Intern - Automotive Adhesives

You’ll be joining a cohort of talented students from a variety of schools across the U.S. We hire interns into the following positions: Process Engineering, R&D, Strategic Sourcing, Technical Sales, Supply Chain, Product Marketing, Information Technology, and more.

Internship Location: St. Paul, MN

Objective:

The objectives to correlate the surface tension of products and the bonding performance on various substrates.


Position Overview:

Measuring the surface tension of our products and various substrates will create a basis of knowledge to predict adhesive performance.  This project will include evaluating the adhesive performance of 2KPUs for automotive to validate the predictive nature of the data.


Primary Duties:

  • Measure the surface tension of finished products using the Kruss DSA.
  • Measure the surface energy of substrates using the portable Kruss MSA.
  • Prepare lap shears with 2KPUs to validate the model.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic Microsoft Office software
  • Statistical software or advanced Excel
  • Basic chemistry lab or polymer processing experience  
  • Working towards Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science (or equivalent experience).


Physical Environment:

40 hours a week. 20% of time in the office, 80% of time in the lab.
