Material Scientist

Imperium3 New York, Inc. (iM3NY) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of “Material Scientist”. This position will join our Product development team and will serve as a bridge between “Product” “Engineering and “manufacturing” groups and more specifically will lead all parts of slurry and coating development as well define KPIs and measurement methods for these process steps.
 
Imperium3 NY dba “iM3NY” is a startup Lithium Ion battery cell development and manufacturing company with HQ and high-volume manufacturing plant located in Endicott, NY. We have an advanced LMP cell that incorporates patented Bio Mineralization to create an industry leading BMLMP cell. We are well positioned for expansion in the future by a well-conceived product road map with advanced chemistry for Gen 2 and Gen 3 products that are in advanced stages of research and development.
JOB DUTIES:
·        Develop, validate, and document new analytical methods for materials/products  
·        Provide solutions for technical challenges based on deep scientific knowledge of rheological characterization and conduct development work of experimental and commercial rheology systems
·        Using, improving, and creating new methodologies and tools to link test data to consumer attributes in above market areas
·        Perform non-routine testing and conduct investigative evaluation for customer complaints, plant quality issues, and in support of Product Development.
·        Maintain high-quality documentation, generate analytical reports, and communicate results effectively to meet Process development and product qualification benchmarking needs  
·        Safely operate and maintain analytical laboratory equipment  
·        Manage time and projects effectively and efficiently, cooperating across analytical competencies 
·        Work closely with global technical experts and leverage technical expertise/specialty

 SKILLS REQUIRED
·        Knowledge of rheological aspects, including viscoelastic behavior, fluid mechanics, shear, extensional rheology to offer formulation and/or application solutions
·        Willing to learn quickly and adopt new skill sets in multiple analytical competencies  
·        Comfortable working in a fast-paced and resource-limited environment  
·        Think creatively, trouble shoot and work collaboratively to develop innovative solutions based on sound scientific analysis 
·        Ability to develop scientific approaches to solve complex technical problems  
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
·        Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Sciences, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or related field . Candidates with MS/BS and work experience in these fields will also be considered.
