Numerical Algorithm Associate Software Engineer

SciTec, Inc. is a dynamic small business with the mission to deliver Advanced Sensor Data Exploitation technologies and Science Instrumentation Capabilities in support of National Security and Defense. SciTec has immediate opportunities for talented software & algorithm developers and engineers to support programs focusing C++ development on image processing, data fusion, and analysis applications for exploitation of remote sensing systems/Overhead Persistent InfraRed (OPIR) data in Dayton, OH.
Software engineers in this role will have the following responsibilities:
  • As part of a multi-disciplinary team, support the implementation of data processing algorithms for remote sensor data. Develop algorithms and algorithm implementations which meet customer requirements for throughput, latency, and accuracy.
  • Support the integration of SciTec data processing algorithms into customer software architectures. Support the design and integration of new functionality and components to enable software interoperability.
  • Working with subject matter experts, transform laboratory proof-of-concepts of new data processing techniques into production-quality implementations. Communicate effectively with subject matter experts and software developers with other technology focus areas.
  • Rapidly learn about customer problem domains, and identify new opportunities for development or improvement of software systems to address customer pain points.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with a team of other developers using Agile methods, distribute version control (e.g. Git), and DevOps development infrastructure.
  • Develop software which meets SciTec and customer standards for maintainability, testability, security, and documentation.

Requirements

The following minimum qualifications are required for the position:
  • A Bachelor's degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science.
  • Demonstrated fluency in the following languages: C++
  • At least one year experience using Linux operating systems
Candidates who have any of the following skills will be preferred:
  • A current active DoD SECRET security clearance or higher
  • Experience with the exploitation and analysis of OPIR, E/O, SAR, Spectral, RF, or other remotely sensed data
  • An advanced degree in the physical sciences, mathematics, engineering, or computer science
  • Professional experience with Agile software development
  • Demonstrated fluency in Python

The salary range for this position is $74,000 to $89,000; however, SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
