Registered Nurse Homecare Infant/Maternal

Location: Riverhead/Yaphank Jail
Work schedule: Monday - Friday (8AM - 4PM) or Flexible          
Starting Salary: $117,842
  • Complete psychiatric assessments of patients, including mental status examinations, to determine diagnoses, assess service needs, and prescribe psychotropic medication as appropriate;
  • Providing ongoing Medication Management to existing patients
  • Provide crisis intervention services as needed, inclusive of assessing patients for psychiatric hospitalization due exacerbated symptoms of acute or chronic mental illness;
  • Assess patients for placement on suicide watch as well as for removal from suicide watch and or any alternative housing environments; asses on unit and in BHU office as appropriate
  • Participate as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team; participate in the development of the patient’s individualized treatment plan;
  • Provide consultation/education to other staff as appropriate;
  • Consult with community organizations and other collaterals concerning patient care;
  • Performing timely and complete clinical documentation including evaluations, progress notes, etc. utilizing the electronic medical record and related record keeping systems.
  • Communicate effectively and timely to unit supervisors and relevant others.
  • Utilize motivational interviewing and engagement skills, as well as other appropriate evidence based practices) to promote wellness among patients.
Qualifications and Skills
Candidate must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, their families, coworkers, public and private agencies and the general public. Candidate must also have the ability to participate effectively as a team member.
  • Candidate must have graduated from a college with a federally-authorized accreditation or registration by NY State with a Master's Degree in Nursing with a specialization in psychiatry, and a minimum of: (1) year of clinical practice as a certified nurse practitioner in psychiatry
·        Minimum Qualifications:
·        Graduation from a NYS or Regionally Accredited College or University with a Master’s Degree in Social Work
·        One (1) year of experience as a Psychiatric Social Worker or One (1) year of study in a psychiatric setting.
·        Type of license or certificate required:
·        Certification as Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the NYS Dept. of Education at the time of appointment; A valid NYS Driver’s License must be maintained throughout employment.

·        · Sick Time: Earned at the rate of 1/2 day per pay period totaling 13 days annually. Unused sick time is rolled over each year, with no maximum rollover.
·        · Personal Leave: An employee is granted 4 days of personnel leave each year. Employees receive 7.5 hours on their 1st day and will accrue one additional day every quarter. After employee first anniversary 28 hours of personal days will be frontloaded at the beginning of each year worked. Unused personal time is rolled over into sick each year with no maximum rollover.
·        · Salary: Step increase every 12 months on July 1st completed year of service in addition to contractual raises through 2024.
·        · Membership in the New York State Retirement Pension System 5 year vested. In order to retire with Health benefits you need to work a total of 10 continuous years with the county and be 55.
