Position Summary: Horseshoe Farm’s Pomona site is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven team member to serve as our Internship Programs Coordinator. This person will play a key role in supporting and helping lead our growing internship and experiential learning programs for undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, health professions, and high school students. Working closely with the Site Director, the Internship Programs Coordinator will help provide teaching, structure, mentorship, and support to students participating in Horseshoe Farm’s innovative service and learning programs. The role also involves helping build and maintain relationships with schools, partners, and visiting groups as Horseshoe Farm deepens its role as a national resource for education and community health. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and deeply mission-focused nonprofit working at the intersection of community health, education, and service.
Key Responsibilities: Work closely with and assist Pomona Site Director to:
- Lead onboarding, training, teaching, supervision, and development of interns, college students, and high school students participating in Horseshoe Farm’s innovative experiential learning programs.
- Help build and maintain relationships with high schools, colleges/universities, graduate and professional schools including those focused on medicine and allied health.
- Help manage and lead the recruitment and selection process of Fellows, interns, and student volunteers, including coordinating outreach, organizing applications, scheduling interviews, and communicating with applicants.
- Help organize and host visits from donors, community, regional, and national partners, student groups, and others seeking to learn about Horseshoe Farm. Support relationship-building through strong logistical coordination, hospitality, and clear, engaging communication of Horseshoe Farm’s mission and model.
- Support Horseshoe Farm’s emerging role as a resource and consultant to other organizations— helping share our mission, model, and lessons learned with those seeking to replicate or adapt Horseshoe Farm’s approach in their own communities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record and demonstrated involvement in service and leadership.
- Demonstrated ability or capacity to learn to provide high-quality teaching, mentorship, management, and supervision to students ranging from high school through graduate-level health and medical training.
- We welcome exceptional recent college graduates who show strong leadership potential.
- 0–3 years of professional experience; leadership or project management experience is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, relationship building skills, emotional intelligence, and a desire to work collaboratively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, learn quickly, and manage responsibilities independently.
- Deep alignment with Horseshoe Farm’s mission, values, and relational approach to service.
- Flexibility, humility, and a strong desire to become part of Horseshoe Farm’s culture.
- Resilience, mission orientation, strong work ethic, and a high level of commitment.
- Willingness to make a multi-year commitment and grow with the organization.
What We Offer:
- A chance to participate in meaningful, impactful work that improves the health and quality of life of children, seniors, adults living with mental illness, and other vulnerable individuals—while helping prepare the next generation of community health leaders.
