Resident Aide

Harbor House Ministries needs compassionate, caring people to ensure that our residents live life to the fullest. We serve adults with multiple, severe disabilities. Our care ratios are low: one staff assists 2 or 3 residents per shift. You're nurturing and team-oriented skills will be used as you come alongside our residents to assist at home in the caretaking tasks of daily life including feeding, showering, grooming, dressing and toileting AND in the outlying community as you accompany them on errands and activities.

We are hiring Resident Aides for Full-/Half-/Part-Time status on 2nd shifts

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

• Provide personal hygiene to residents including assistance with teeth brushing, showering and bathing, as well as other personal hygiene needs. 
• Provide assistance with incontinent issues. 
• Provide assistance to residents with getting dressed and/or undressed. 
• Provide assistance to residents with personal grooming tasks such as shaving, manicures, brushing, combing and styling hair, application of makeup, and other grooming tasks as requested. 
• Assist with spiritual care plans including accompanying to church, praying before meals/bedtime, participating in devotions etc. 
• Assist residents with ambulation and transfers. 
• Complete housekeeping tasks including bed-making, setting and clearing tables, cleaning dining room, vacuuming, trash collection and disposal, wheelchair and other special equipment cleaning, laundry, bathrooms, shower rooms, dusting, mopping floors, and tidying rooms. 
• Dietary tasks include assisting with preparing, assisting, and serving meals and snacks. 
• Day programming tasks including encouraging residents to reach individual goals of mobility, independence, communication, sensory and community integration, as well as escorting residents to/from events and activities. Assist residents with daily chores and guide volunteers in activities with residents. 
• Answer phone and transfer calls or take messages as appropriate. 
• Provide documentation including shift report on each resident, charting of treatments and medications administered, incident/accident reports, witness reports, and other documentation as required. Chart with ECP.
• Interact with residents, family, and staff in a courteous, professional and helpful manner. 
• Attend mandatory staff meetings and in-services. 
• Regular predictable attendance is required. 
• Computer skills are essential for the job of doing e-charting.

QUALIFICATIONS: 
• Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED 
• Pass finger printing, background check, physical and drug screen (no marijuana)
• Dresses and behaves in a professional manner, follows dress code 
• Able to perform shift work including weekends and holidays 
• Able to work autonomously and as a team member 

PAY RATE: 
• $14.00 an hour plus $3.40 (direct care work pay) together it is $17.40 an hour 

SHIFTS: 
• 2nd. (3:00 PM to either 9:30 PM, 10pm, 11pm

SCHEDULE: (This is a year-round position. No seasonal work is available.) 
• 6-8 hour shift 
• Day/Evening shift (Hours may vary between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM) 
• Holidays (Work half of the major holidays that are recognized by Harbor House Ministries) 
• Weekend availability (Every other) 
• Incentive pay for shifts picked up beyond your scheduled hours
