WIC Program Manager

The WIC Program Manager will provide oversight of WIC activities at all CareSouth WIC locations.  Assures, the CareSouth WIC program is in compliance with Federal and State WIC requirements. Represents CareSouth in discussions, meetings and conferences with regional, state and federal WIC representatives. Remains current of changes to the WIC program keeping CareSouth leadership informed as required.  The WIC Manager stays informed and advises CareSouth leadership of opportunities for grants and contracts related to other state and federal nutrition programs for all ages. Serves as the primary liaison with the state WIC agency.   

 

WIC Program Manager will implement, evaluate, and coordinate plans including Nutrition Education Plan, Obesity Prevention projects, etc.in accordance with State WIC guidelines and policies Supervises WIC staff, and Provides staff training, Conduct quality assurance activities. Evaluates the daily operation of each clinic for effectiveness and accomplishment of goals. The Program Manager will provide WIC services and assist in clinic as needed to ensure efficient service is provided.  Assist and support breastfeeding promotion and education activities; and Promote WIC services in the community and coordinate outreach activities. 

 

Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress and the ability to organize and prioritize work. Must possess the ability to supervise staff effectively, such as managing staff work schedules, administering performance evaluations, problem solving and conflict resolution, and other necessary supervisory management skills.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Nursing, Health Administration, or related field. Registered Dietitian is preferred.  or Certified with the State Licensure Board, or an approved alternate. 
  • Requires two or more years of WIC program experience or experience in a maternal /child health program 

 

LICENSES, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Job-related training and two years of WIC program required.
  • Must maintain licensure requirement for the State of Louisiana.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILIITES AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment, comprehend and follow complex verbal and written instructions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and quantitative skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills necessary to communicate with all levels of staff and a patient population composed of diverse cultures and age groups.
  • Ability to maintain commitment to confidentiality in all encounters.
  • An ability to efficiently interact and cope with multiple distractions and demanding interactions and encounters.
  • Knowledge of WIC Management software (e.g., LAWIN,etc.)
  • Knowledge of personal computers and basic Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability to use word processing, databases, and software programs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
