Part-Time Strength and Conditioning Coach
Braves Rowing (Boone High School Crew) in downtown Orlando is seeking an energetic, passionate, and knowledgeable strength & conditioning coach to help take the team to the next level!

This is a part time position (12-15 hours per week) to work with our full-time rowing coach to elevate training and conditioning as we work toward state and national scholastic championships in spring 2026. Land Trainer would work with head coach to maximize available time, equipment and focus of each practice. The primary focus will be on core strengthening, plyometrics, and bodyweight fitness circuits to enhance athletic performance, reduce injury risk, and support rowers in achieving peak physical condition. The Land Trainer will work closely with the head rowing coach to ensure safe, effective, and sport-specific training that aligns with the team’s competitive goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead land-based training programs emphasizing core strength, plyometric exercises, bodyweight circuits, and conditioning tailored to competitive rowing.
- Develop fall & spring season training plans based on sound scientific principles and the Long-Term Athletic Development Model.
- Instruct athletes on proper exercise techniques, emphasizing safety and injury prevention, particularly for core and plyometric movements critical to rowing performance.
- Collaborate with Head Coach to support rehabilitation and strengthening programs for injured athletes.
- Monitor and track athlete progress, maintaining records of attendance and performance metrics in coordination with the rowing coach.
- Ensure the safe operation of strength training equipment and enforce safety protocols during workouts.
- Foster a positive, motivating environment to encourage athlete commitment and teamwork.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology, sports science, or a related field preferred. A high school diploma with significant relevant experience and certifications may also be considered.
Certifications:
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) or equivalent (e.g., NASM-CPT, ACE-CPT).
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification required. (Will need to get Safesport trained and background check per high school and OCPS policies)
- Additional certifications in corrective exercise, sports performance, or rowing-specific training are a plus.
Experience:
- Experience in strength and conditioning, preferably with high school or collegiate athletes.
- Knowledge of rowing biomechanics and sport-specific conditioning needs is highly desirable.
- Experience designing programs with a focus on core strengthening and plyometrics.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and injury prevention.
- Ability to teach and demonstrate proper lifting techniques, bodyweight exercises, and plyometric drills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with athletes, coaches, and athletic trainers.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to track progress and adjust programs as needed.
Availability: Must be available for afternoon and occasional weekend sessions, with flexibility to accommodate the rowing team’s practice and competition schedule. Practices held 3:00-5:30 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Early releases Wednesday practice is 2:00-4:30 pm.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate exercises and operate strength training equipment.
- Comfortable working in varied environments (e.g., weight room, outdoor fields) and under different weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting and moving equipment as needed for training set up
