Extracurricular Enrichment Teacher

EXTRACURRICULAR ENRICHMENT TEACHER OPPORTUNITY

Young Engineers of Howard County-College Park is looking for an Enrichment Instructor to join our team of dynamic, energetic, forward-thinking minds, working toward our common goal to: provide extracurricular STEM engineering and coding education in a fun and safe learning environment for children. Our Enrichment Instructors are the core of our program. This individual oversees the day-to-day instruction and student engagement. Are you experienced in working with children? Do you enjoy teaching and building problem-solving skills in young engineering minds? Have you mentored youth? This could be the role for you.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Working history with children ages 5 and up (mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.) 
  • A Relator: The ideal candidate is someone who can build positive, professional relationships.
  • Team Player: Works well with other team members
  • Communicator:  Ability to communicate well with adults and children, verbally and in writing
  • Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot/problem-solve issues as they emerge in real time
  • Flexible: The ideal candidate can positively adapt to change in fast-paced environments
  • Learner/Inquisitive: Can learn new things (ideas, strategies, methods, processes, etc.) and ask helpful questions
  • Knowledgeable: Knowledge of engineering, physics, or coding is a plus. Individuals with the capacity to quickly pick up basic concepts can also apply
  • Committed and Fun: The ideal candidate must be committed to positive outcomes and fun to work with. 

 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES 

The Enrichment Instructor will:

  • Participate in 6-10 hours of training to learn the Young Engineers curriculum
  • Facilitate lessons and monitor student engagement for up to 16 students
  • Create a positive and safe environment in which students can grow
  • Provide feedback to parents after working with each student
  • Provide own transportation to and from assigned after-school locations
  • Report routinely to Program Manager on program progress

 

AVAILABILITY

  • Days | Monday through Friday
  • Times | Between 2:00p.m. to 6:30 pm (after-school schedules)
  • Semester commitment | September 2025 - December 2025; January 2026-June 2026 (opportunity to extend for Summer Camp in July 2026)

PAY: 

$20-$30/hour­ 

The selected candidates must pass a child care background check investigation  required by the school systems in Maryland.
