About the Role:
As a Great Lakes Student Coordinator for Wisconsin, you’ll serve as a key student leader in a regional initiative to expand access to SNAP, Medicaid, and other essential resources. Coordinators work closely with SBNC staff and partners to:
- Lead outreach on your campus to connect students with resources using our in-house SNAP-eligibility screener, Navvy
- Organize and facilitate events like town halls and peer outreach campaigns
- Convene and support a state-wide Student Working Group to elevate student voices
- Work with state agency staff, administrators, and nonprofit partners to ensure student perspectives shape policy solutions
- Collaborate with campus SGAs and administrators to institutionalize support systems
- Receive biweekly training in advocacy, storytelling, and leadership development
- Research and analyze prior basic needs policy in your state
Position Details:
- Must be currently enrolled at college or university (2-year, 4-year, community/technical, public/private, undergrad/grad) in Wisconsin
- Must be a domestic student (due to federal labor restrictions, we cannot hire international students for this paid role)
- Commitment: ~10 hours per week
- Pay: $17/hour
- Fully remote with occasional in-person campus activities
This is a unique opportunity to build leadership skills, expand campus access to public benefits, and be part of a regional student-led movement.
