The Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) is a 501(c)(6) professional association dedicated to advancing family medicine and improving health through a community of teachers and scholars. STFM provides resources, training, and advocacy to support health professionals at medical schools and residency programs in educating future family physicians. Position Description

Our mission at the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) is to advance family medicine to improve health through a community of teachers and scholars. We are a nonprofit association that aims to become the indispensable home for every family medicine educator. STFM works toward this vision by providing resources and training to medical educators at medical schools and residency programs across the nation.

We are seeking a summer semester intern who is interested in learning about several aspects of marketing and member engagement within a nonprofit association. Our interns gain experience through mentorship and a diverse series of projects targeted at meeting their goals and expanding their skill sets. As an intern at STFM, you will work on multiple projects within the marketing sphere, including web analytics, CMS tools, social media, and content creation.

Location and Work Schedule

This is a hybrid position based in the Kansas City metro area. The typical weekly schedule includes some in-office time (Mondays and Tuesdays at our Leawood, KS office) and remote work the rest of the week (Wednesday through Friday), although the exact internship schedule is flexible.

Requirements

  • Current college student with an expected graduation date of 2026–2028
  • Pursuing studies in marketing, communications, nonprofit leadership, pre-medicine, or a related area (preferred)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently on important projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Commit to approximately 10 hours of project work per week
  • Attend orientation and weekly meetings at the STFM office in Leawood, KS
  • Complete work in-person and remotely, as appropriate
