R&D Intern – Wax Chemistry and Materials (Waxallurgy)
Overview
The R&D Intern – Wax Chemistry and Materials will join Shamrock’s Research & Development team and focus on the modification, combination, and alloying of waxes with other materials using microchemistry techniques. This position provides hands-on laboratory experience under the mentorship of an R&D sponsor, while encouraging increasing independence in experimental planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage daily laboratory activities to achieve defined project milestones and objectives
- Apply fundamental chemistry principles to modify and alloy wax-based materials
- Use appropriate analytical and experimental techniques to generate, analyze, and interpret data
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks and project documentation
- Prepare periodic summaries and present findings to senior R&D staff
- Learn and apply new laboratory techniques as needed to support project success

Qualifications
- Current sophomore, junior, or senior pursuing a degree in Chemistry or a related field
- Completion of Organic Chemistry coursework (or higher)
- Hands-on experience with basic chemistry laboratory techniques through coursework or prior work experience
- Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and proper record keeping
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
