ISRI Sustainability Pathways Program
The Institute for Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) Sustainability Pathways Program will offer paid fellowship, internship and apprenticeship opportunities starting in June 2022 for current students and recent graduates. As a Pathway participant students will be fully immersed in the career opportunities in the recycling industry at one of our member companies. There are three different paths available: fellowships, internships, and apprenticeships.
ISRI is also partnering with Keep America Beautiful (KAB) to provide mentoring and training opportunities with Pathways Sustainability Program participants. As a community improvement organization, KAB will provide opportunities for participants to engage in community projects and activities in neighborhoods in and around businesses sponsoring the participants and provide training opportunities connecting the lessons learned about the recycling industry to broader community sustainability goals. Coaching will be provided to link civic awareness to professional growth and networking opportunities, setting the stage for a lifetime commitment to civic engagement and volunteerism.
Fellowships
One-year fellowships will be offered to graduating seniors and graduates within two years of completing their degree in the following areas:

Full and part time one year and summer internships will be offered to eligible students who have completed at least one year of academic studies and have at least 10 hours in the following areas:

Bob’s Metals, located in Portland, OR is a scrap metal (ferrous and non-ferrous) company that collects and processes ferrous and non-ferrous metals utilizing industrial vehicles, material handlers, bailers, stationary and mobile shearers, and torching. Bob’s Metals has a fleet of 14 trucks with over 800 roll off containers and ships materials domestically and internationally for final processing.

Charleston Steel & Metals is a full service ferrous and non-ferrous processing company established in 1893. We run our own fleet of trucks, tractor trailers, roll offs and luggers. We operate two stationary ferrous shears, two mobile shears, and a Non-Ferrous high reduction baler and all the mobile equipment it takes to manufacture specific recyclable raw materials. We have 3 locations around Charleston and serve the individual recycler as well as industrial material generators in the area.
