Youth Mentor Internship (Remote)

About the role 
Global Talent Link (GTL) is a startup company that aims to build a connected and collaborative learning community guided by iABC principles of International Perspectives, Ability, Benevolence and Courage. Global Talent Link strives to provide supplemental education custom-tailored to each students’ goals. Our team of interns comprises of undergraduate and graduate students from around the world attending prestigious American universities with experience in mentorship, foreign culture studies, tutoring, and studying abroad. Collectively GTL is committed to broadening young learners’ perspectives and fostering their individual growth in a supportive community. 

Role: We are looking for part-time interns to serve as youth mentors, or ‘Linkers,’ with experience in near-peer instruction to strengthen GTL’s enrichment programs and services. This entry level position is specifically for those who excel at one-on-one teaching with middle school to high school students. Those with study abroad experience or passion for cultural immersion are encouraged to apply. Paid training led by colleagues will also be included in preparation for mentorship and tutoring sessions.Typical tasks involve:  
  • 1:1 sessions with learners 
  • Facilitating and attending meetings, workshops, training, and learner interviews 
  • Preparing assessments and progress reports of learners 
  • Creating content such as blog posts and social media posts 
  • Participating in outreach efforts and strategical marketing campaigns to increase enrollment 
 
Compensation: Ranges from $15-$25 per hour and will be commensurate with experience and performance.  

Qualifications: Successful candidates are passionate, outgoing, demonstrate an upbeat attitude, are skilled in communication, and are experienced in tutoring middle school and/or high school students. This is a perfect opportunity for individuals who wish to pass on a non-academic life skill to a young student. Those with prior experience in close-knit team environments are encouraged to apply. As a startup, passion to work within a collaborative environment for group projects as a community is imperative. Proficiency in foreign languages is not required but would greatly benefit an applicant’s candidacy.
