JOB DESCRIPTION 
 
The Intern on the Data Science team will work closely with the Computational Biologists and the scientific team to achieve the company’s integrative multi-omics approach to understand chromosomal instability in metastatic cancers. The Intern will work within the team to develop and execute ETL workflows to support the scientific team’s strategic plans and the overall company vision. Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 
 
  • Design efficient extract, transform and load processes to load existing data into a data warehouse 
  • Generate tests for ETL processes 
  • Generate reusable data sets for analysis 
  • Optimization of queries and pipelines 
  • Requirements gathering and documentation for design decisions 
  • Write well documented code  
 
Qualifications:  
 
Currently enrolled in MS Program or Undergraduate Senior in a quantitative field (bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, information systems, etc.) 
 
Required Skills: 
 
  • Working knowledge of Python, R, Scala, Bash scripting 
  • Experience with Pandas 
  • Experience with SQL and database structures 
  • Some familiarity with NoSQL 
  • Experience working in Linux environments and high-performance cluster computing 
  • Ability to communicate with non-technical stakeholders 
 
Preferred Skills: 
  • Experience working in a cloud environment 
  • Experience with bioinformatics data 
  • Experience building apps with R Shiny, Django or Flask 
  • Experience working with databricks 
  • Experience with GitHub 
  • Experience building dashboards with a data visualization tool
