Sensor Data Processing Software Engineer

SciTec has immediate opportunities for talented software develops and engineers at our Dayton, OH office. These engineers will be responsible for supporting the development of high-throughput, low-latency applications for advanced processing of remote sensor data in support of national security applications. Our ideal candidate will have experience working in C++, Java, or Python, and will work well in multiple software languages as part of a collaborative, small-team environment including scientists, engineers, and software developers. Members of the team are expected to work together at SciTec’s facilities in Dayton, OH.

Software engineers in this role will have the following responsibilities:
  • As part of a multi-disciplinary team, support the implementation of data processing algorithms for remote sensor data. Develop algorithms and algorithm implementations which meet customer requirements for throughput, latency, and accuracy.
  • Coordinate the integration of SciTec data processing algorithms into customer software architectures. Support the design and integration of new functionality and components to enable software interoperability.
  • Working with subject matter experts, transform laboratory proof-of-concepts of new data processing techniques into production-quality implementations. Communicate effectively with subject matter experts and software developers with other technology focus areas.
  • Rapidly learn about customer problem domains, and identify new opportunities for development or improvement of software systems to address customer pain points.
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with a team of other developers using Agile methods, distribute version control (e.g. Git), and DevOps development infrastructure.
  • Develop software which meets SciTec and customer standards for maintainability, testability, security, and documentation.

Requirements

The following minimum qualifications are required for all applicants:
  • Candidates must two years of professional experience in software development.
  • Candidates must have at least one year of prior development experience using C++, Java, or Python.
  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or the physical sciences.
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Candidates with any of the following qualifications will be strongly preferred:
  • An active Top Secret DoD/DoE security clearance.
  • Prior familiarity with the processing and analysis of remote sensor data.
Candidates will also be preferred who have any of the following skills or experiences:
  • An active Secret DoD/DoE security clearance.
  • Familiarity with any of the following technology areas: Distributed systems, multithreaded/parallel processing, application containerization, application deployment to Kubernetes or DC/OS environments.
  • Advanced degrees in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency with a single computer language, or demonstrated experience with multiple computer languages.

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $160,000; however, SciTec considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, candidate's work experience, education and training, and key skills.
