The Tipping Points Research Associate will actively work to recruit, consent, and follow up study participants for a large health services research project. This project is a collaboration between Clinical Directors Network, Weill Cornell Medicine, AllianceChicago, and 16 community health centers. This is a hybrid (in-person and remote) position with a 28-hour workweek. Candidates must live in the NYC region and be able to travel to the health centers in Brooklyn or Queens twice a week. The remaining days will be worked remotely from home. Orientation and training will take place in-person at CDN's and Weill Cornell’s main offices in Manhattan. Salary range: $26-$28 per hour.

Requirements:
  • High school degree or greater
  • Spanish fluency required
  • Knowledge in Motivational Interviewing techniques and psychology
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including ethnic and racial minority communities
  • Strong communication, organizational, and PC skills
  • Ability to attend in-person and virtual trainings
  • Ability to complete Human Subjects Research training
  • Successfully complete background check and medical clearance

Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Screening
  • Identify and screen eligible patients from NYC community health centers
  • Establish rapport with patients, obtain consent and complete enrollment survey (Spanish or English) via an in-person or phone interview
Intervention
  • Work closely with intervention participants in setting healthy lifestyle goals, behavioral contracts, and deliver bi-weekly intervention sessions for 12 weeks via phone
  • Facilitate goal setting for self-management using motivational interviewing and other techniques, as trained
Follow Ups
  • Conduct approximately 10 weekly surveys with participants
  • Follow up with participants on emergency room visits and hospitalization events
Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain continual documentation of activities, action plans, and results while adhering to the policies and procedures in the approved protocol
  • Collect data and complete relevant data entry
  • Report red flags and other relevant information to the appropriate individuals (PCC, Institutional Review Board, etc.) via adverse event reports
