MBA Summer Associate, Ecommerce Product Management - Automotive Portfolio Company

Job Overview

New Forest Capital is seeking an MBA Summer Associate for an ecommerce portfolio company in the automotive sector. Reporting to the Managing Director, B2B & Marketplaces, the Summer Associate will be tasked with launching a new product category across our ecommerce marketplace channels, from idea generation through execution. Key Responsibilities 

  • Complete ownership of the entire process of launching a new product category in the automotive ecommerce space from idea generation to successful execution of transactions.
  • Develop and execute tests and summarize key learnings
  • Collaborate with the executive team to define product vision, goals, and roadmap for the new offering in the automotive ecommerce space. Conduct market research, competitor analysis, and customer insights to inform product strategy and ensure a competitive edge.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and opportunities in the automotive ecommerce sector. Develop a deep understanding of the target market and use data-driven insights to drive decision-making.
  • Strong storytelling and communication skills. Must be able to write detailed process and/or requirement documents for internal and external parties. 
  • Lead the development of business plans and financial models to assess the viability and potential profitability of the new product. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and track product performance against established goals.
  • Effectively manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure the successful execution of the product launch. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities and ensure smooth project flow.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including executives, engineers, marketers, and operations, to facilitate effective collaboration and communication. Present findings, progress updates, and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.

Key Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an MBA program from a reputable institution.
  • Prior experience as a product manager or in a related role within the technology or ecommerce industry preferred but not required. Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and proven experience in successfully launching products.
  • Experience managing third party platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Ebay) a plus.
  • Proficient in conducting market research, analyzing data, and making data-driven decisions. Ability to leverage various analytical tools and methodologies to derive insights and inform product strategy.
  • Familiarity with the automotive industry and understanding of automotive ecommerce trends, technologies, and customer behavior is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate ideas into actionable plans. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address potential challenges
  • Adaptable and Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Compensation

  • Base salary
  • We have a preference for candidates who can work from our Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles office for the summer, though are willing to consider fully remote for exceptional candidates
