Intern, Global Supplier Quality

Who We Are

BioMarin’s Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers, technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain BioMarin’s cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs to patients.

SUMMARY:

The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.

The Global Supplier Quality department within the Tech Ops group is responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of raw materials and components sourced from GMP suppliers.The programs include Supplier Change Notifications, Quality Technical Agreements, Supplier Investigations and CAPAs, Approved Supplier List Management and development/trending of Supplier performance metrics.

JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:

The position will support in the evaluation and qualification of new and existing GMP Material suppliers.In addition, the position will support the implementation and maintenance of up-to-date supplier’s assessments to ensure adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements and may assist Global Supplier Quality personnel in the tracking of supplier investigations at various stages to closure dates.Monthly metrics will be maintained and reported. The position will interact with internal groups such as GxP Compliance, Global Sourcing Procurement and MSAT.

 

Required Skills:

·Proficient computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

·Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

·Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to prioritize and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.

·Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

 

Desired Skills:

·Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs

·Interest in pursuing a career in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry

Qualifications/Eligibility:

·Undergraduate student in their 3rd or 4th year majoring in life sciences or computerized systems.

·Student must be returning to school in the Fall Term OR has graduated within the 1 year of the start of the program.

·Must be available to work 40 hours a week

·Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 21.00 to $ 25.00 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
