Digital Asset Management Intern

Project Overview: 

The Guy Harvey Foundation is seeking a Digital Asset Management (DAM) Intern to assist in asset transfer, cataloging and metadata tagging. The intern will receive training on GHF's DAM system to accurately catalog assets and work closely with the marketing team. 

This internship is a unique opportunity to support the incredible research and education work being done by the Guy Harvey Foundation while receiving training on a robust DAM system. The intern will have access to years worth of footage and photographs detailing the amazing work being done in the field of conservation. Though this is a virtual internship, the intern will have the opportunity to volunteer at fundraising events, boat shows and festivals. 

Duration:

Spring Semester and possible Summer Extension

Hours:

12 hours per week

Responsibilities

  • Upload, catalog, and categorize existing and new digital asset materials (e.g., documents, photographs, and videos) for internal and external use
  • Learn and execute best practices for the management of digital material, including photographs and video
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure digital asset management success and asset permissions
  • Enhance metadata associated with digital assets including titles, descriptions, keywords, and copyright information to improve searchability and asset understanding

Desired Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student
  • Interest in a career in digital preservation or digital asset management
  • Some experience working with audiovisual file-based objects
  • Knowledge of metadata and archival encoding standards, and experience with cataloging standards and practices preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity and/or experience with DAM software WIDEN preferred, but not required
  • Comfortable and capable with handling confidential information
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Must be well organized, motivated, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills
