QTAS Bioanalytical Internship Overview

AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated intern to join our Quantitative, Translation & ADME Sciences (QTAS) team in South San Francisco. The QTAS Bioanalytical group develops and implements Ligand binding assays to evaluate pharmacodynamic effects in preclinical studies and clinical trials. The proposed project would evaluate and identify the most suitable technology platform(s) for biomarker study. Findings will be used to generate data for better understanding drug MOA and helping with selection of disease population for drug efficacy.

Key responsibilities include:

·         Learn and conduct Ligand binding assays (LBA) on various technology platforms under the supervision of the intern mentor.

·         Design, execute, and generate experimental results.

·         Present findings related to LBA platform comparison.

·         Help troubleshoot experimental approaches and conduct literature searches to identify alternative approaches to evaluate biomarker measurement.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

·         Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, or other        related field.

·         Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship.

·         Expected graduation date between December 2024 – July 2025.

·         Comfortable working with plasma and serum samples from human and non-human primates.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

·         Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including analysis.

·         Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction.

·         Troubleshoot experiments and identify / solve elementary problems in experimental designs, including laboratory experimentation.

·         Proficient in required software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

The salary range is: (minimum: $46,883.20, to maximum: $64,584.00)​​​
