2024 AAPD Fall Internship Program
The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is pleased to announce that the 2024 AAPD Fall Internship Program Application is now open. The deadline to apply is Wednesday March 13, 2024.
The AAPD Fall Internship Program is a professional and career development opportunity for disabled students and recent graduates. Interns explore career opportunities, gain leadership skills, and connect to the broader disability community.
The 2024 AAPD Fall Internship Program will be completely virtual. Ten interns will be placed in remote internships at placement sites in either Congressional offices, federal agencies, non-profit, or for-profit organizations. Interns will work part-time for 15 hours a week. The program will be 14 weeks long. It will run from September 3 to December 6, 2024.
Interns are paid $18/hour for 15 hours a week for 14 weeks.
As part of the Fall Internship Program, interns will:
- Attend a virtual kickoff call in June.
- Attend an in-person gathering in Washington D.C. from Wednesday, July 24, 2024 to Saturday, July 27, 2024.
- Participate in a virtual orientation on Sunday, August 25 from 12-4pm ET with breaks.
- Take a disability advocacy class every 2 weeks. We’re planning for Fridays between 12-3pm ET.
- Connect one-on-one with a virtual mentor
- Join virtual community events throughout the fall
Applications are due Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 5:00pm ET.
We will have an information session to learn more about the program and application. The information session will be Monday, March 4, 2024 from 4:00pm – 5:00pm ET. CART and ASL will be provided. The session will be recorded and available on the AAPD website. Please email internships@aapd.com with any questions or accommodation requests.
AAPD is a national cross-disability civil rights organization that works to increase the political and economic power of people with disabilities. For over 20 years we have been hosting interns in Washington D.C. and remotely as part of our Summer Internship Program, and now we are expanding into our new Fall Internship Program.
