Camp Nurse
Position Title: Nurse
Reports To: Camp Director

Promise Camp is a highly relational Christ-centered residential summer camp. Campers range between 6 and 17 years of age and are frequently from unchurched, single-parent families, and from various cultural backgrounds. The camp programis divided into 6 one-week sessions. Family Guidanceoffers 13 days of onsite paid training as well as supervision and assistance throughout the camp season.
Position Summary: The nurse provides for the medical well-being of campers while they’re at camp. The nurse collects, organizes, and dispenses medications, treats all camper and staff medical issues, maintains treatment and medication logs, and similar nursing functions.
The Position Requires:
- A devoted relationship and mature walk with Jesus Christ.
- Current Pennsylvania stateRN certification OR hold multistate licenses through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), if from other states.
- Being flexible and able to adapt to different environments and schedules and enjoying an active lifestyle.
- Confidence in nursingskills.
- Good bedside manner,being friendly and personable towardthe campers and staff who are served.
- Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity).
- ER and/or pediatric unit experience preferred, but not required.
- PennsylvaniaAct 33 and 34 background clearances.
- Being at least21 years of age.
Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
- Be present at all pickup bus stop locations to collect medical forms, assure their completion and accuracy, and to collect,label, and transport to camp all camper medications.
- Dispense medications to campers and staff according to regularly prescribed times and methods.
- Perform firstaid for minor injuries.
- Perform weekly healthchecks for all campers.
- Communicate specific camperhealth needs (allergies, special diets) to staff.
- Maintain all appropriate records and documentation including those for medications dispensed and woundsand/or injuries treated.
- Act as liaison between the camp and local doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies.
- Bag, label, and return medications to campersupon their departure.
- Communicate with parentsas necessary.
- Maintain first-aid kits and recommendpurchases for camp medicalsupply stock.
- Clean and maintainthe nurse’s stationdaily.
- Be present each dayat camp throughout the day.
Essential Functions:
Able to assist campers in emergency (fire, injury, etc.); walk several miles in a day; observe loading and unloading of buses; assist with camper luggage and belongings; and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
