At Northern Light Health, we believe in helping our new graduate nurses transition from academics to professional practice, which is why some of our member organizations participate in a nurse residency program. The 12-month program includes monthly workshops, simulation sessions, group discussions and an evidence-based practice project. Others have a local curriculum to support and develop newly licensed nurses.
About you:
The Nurse Residency Program consists of monthly workshops, quarterly simulation experiences and an evidence-based practice project over an 11-monthperiod. The residency program is a commitment of 12 hours per month and is included as one of your scheduled 12 hour work shifts in a 36 hour workweek. The program is required for all new graduate nurses, with the goal of assisting the resident with the transition from advanced beginner to competent professional nurse.
At Northern Light Health, many new graduate nurses have the choice to start Pre-NCLEX or Post-NCLEX. For participating members, new graduates are required to enter into the next available Residency Cohort following their hire date.
Pre-NCLEX Requirements :Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (currently in last semester Nursing school or recently graduated from Nursing school) and be able to provide an Authorization to test prior to start date .Must attempt the NCLEX within 60 days of hire, and hold or be eligible to obtain CNA, CST, PharmTech, or another licensure in the event the new graduate is unable to pass the NCLEX exam.
