Social Media Marketing Intern

We are looking for creative and detail-oriented individuals who are currently enrolled or recently graduated from college with a background in marketing and/or chemistry to join ChemTalk’s Social Media and Marketing Team. As an intern on this team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in ChemTalk’s various social media accounts and/or help promote the organization through marketing to help further develop the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities will depend on the particular position on the team. The available positions are listed below:

Social Media Marketing Intern and Social Media Uploader

Role Requirements:

  • Markets ChemTalk through Linkedin, Instagram, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  • Posts regularly on Twitter and Facebook as well as engage with other accounts through following, comments, and reposting
  • Ensuring that posts on each platform align with the respective audiences. This may require research into what is popular in the science community for each app

Data/Trend Analyst Intern

Role Requirements:

  • Reviews and tracks social media analytics, podcast analytics, and website analytics
  • Forecasts reasonable goals for social media and podcast engagement and site visits
  • Tracks trends on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms to inform other team members of content that should be created to align with trends
  • Notes the types of science content that are successful and advises other members in content creation as a result

Instagram Content Creator

Role Requirements:

  • Creating posts and posting on Instagram regularly (3 times a week)
  • Tracks metrics for Instagram in collaboration with data analyst to determine what content is successful

Social Media Outreach and Partnerships

Role Requirements:

  • Reaching out to companies or other social media users for promotion, collaborations, and sponsorships
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling collaborations with Rachel and secondary party
  • Coming up with collaboration video ideas
  • Researching accounts/companies that could be compatible with ChemTalk
  • Researching educational institutions that may benefit from ChemTalk
  • Creating outreach email list for all interns

All interns are required to participate in outreach emails and be active on ChemTalk social media. This includes emailing schools, professors, and teachers for potential collaborations, as well as liking and commenting on ChemTalk socials.

Required Experience and Skills:

Educational Background: Currently enrolled in or graduated from a university with experience in business, marketing, and/or the STEM fields.

Communication: Clear and effective communication skills to convey necessary updates to team leaders, as well as maintaining active communication with other interns within the social media and marketing team for cohesive projects.

Time Management: Capability to manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.

Collaboration: Willingness to share ideas and collaborate with other team members in order to further develop outreach projects.

Applications: Experience with Canva and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, etc.
