Diagnostic Imaging Technologist
Qualifications/Position Requirements:
A. Education/Experience
- Graduate of an Accredited Radiologic Technology Education Program
- Knowledge of current radiologic trends and techniques
- Current BLS certification required within 3 months of hire
- Eligible to sit for Boards
B. Licensure/Certification
1. Current licensure by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with required annual renewals

2. Requires on-call coverage with minimum response time of 30 minutes

Duties & Responsibilities:
Knowledge of Job
Diagnostic Imaging Technologist:
*1. Maintains the standards of diagnostic imaging services and implements policies and procedures of the Hospital and Diagnostic Imaging Department
*2. Makes task and/or care related decisions, based on policies and procedures
*3. Reports pertinent observations and reactions regarding patient’s to the appropriate person (i.e. physicians) and
records those observations accurately and concisely
*4. Proficiently administers IV dye for applicable diagnostic tests.
*5. Initiates and accurately carries out physician orders in a timely manner, recognizing the need for STAT responses
*6. Demonstrates competency in clinical skills: operation of radiographic equipment (for applicable modalities trained in),
knowledge of radiographic examinations (for applicable modalities trained in), knowledge of patient transfer, lifting and
positioning techniques, etc.)
*7. Knowledge of anatomical orientation on all required images
*8. Assists physicians with examination, special tests and procedures in diagnostic imaging, when applicable
*9. Initiates and accurately monitors Intravenous injections/infusions in department, according to established department
policies and procedures
*10. Assists with or initiates emergency measures applicable in department for sudden adverse developments in patients
condition
*11. Recognizes and understands psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, economic and age related needs of patients/residents
and provides/adjusts care as appropriate
*12. Able to obtain satisfactory clinical results by following policies and procedures
*13. Demonstrates utilization and understanding of radiology safety measures
*14. Demonstrates understanding of oral and written instructions
*15. Provides for proper patient identification and image identification
*16. Provides concise, accurate documentation of all pertinent data
*17. Utilizes teaching opportunities with patients/family/significant others and staff when applicable
*18. Adjusts equipment to correct settings for procedure/treatments for maximum results
*19. Demonstrates correct technique of cleaning and/or assembling equipment, running controls on equipment
20. Participates in keeping treatment/work areas clean and neat
*21. Assists in maintaining environment that ensures appropriate supplies/medications/equipment/services necessary for
dept. functions.
*22. Participates in the economical utilization of supplies and ensures that equipment is maintained in a clean and safe
manner; appropriately charges for supplies and services utilized
23. Demonstrates understanding of patient rights and responsibilities and provides care as appropriate
24. Maintains confidentiality of patient information and provides for patient privacy
25. Prepares outgoing mail/files/records for department
*26. Prepares patient documentation for Medical Record
*27. Knowledge of PACS system imaging/accessing/storage and process for image interpretation
*28. Presents self in professional manner, through appearance, communication and attitude
*29. Responds to external and internal customers in empathetic, respectful, caring manner
30. Recognizes and reports unit problems/issues using established lines of authority (chain of command)
*31. Assists in maintaining records, reports, and collection of statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes
*32. Answers telephone, takes messages, communicates messages to appropriate person
*33. Performs computer related tasks proficiently
*34. Files diagnostic and other reports/documents/films in appropriate locations per hospital/department policy
35. Participates in the orientation of new personnel and training of students
