Child Life Specialist
CHKD is seeking compassionate and caring professionals for the full-time, day-shift role of Child Life Specialist. CHKD has openings in the Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of the Main Hospital in Norfolk, VA as well as additional departments.
This Child Life Specialist role is unique! You will be working within our Cancer and Blood Disorders center. While working hands-on with patients, you'll find incredible work-life balance in this position - No Weekends, no Holidays! This role will also expand on your child life skill set; you'll be working to coordinate events for this special patient population, work directly with hospital donors, and even assist in applying for grants!
Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in Child Life or a related field with completion of a 600-hour pediatric Child Life internship. Candidates must also be certified in Child Life (and maintain certification) or obtain certification in Child Life within one year of hire (and maintain certification). New and upcoming graduates are welcome to apply, and will be considered!
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or related field with completion of 600-hour pediatric Child Life internship.
- Must be certified or obtain certification in Child Life within one year of hire and certification must be maintained.
- CPR Training required or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
- Minimum of one-year experience in a pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
